I joined planet fitness about a year ago and at first I was extremely confused on which machines I should use. I can still remember my first day walking into the gym, I must have gone on a really busy night because I can not recall the gym being that busy again. I was a little overwhelmed and did not know where to start. So I jumped on the elliptical for 30 mins and then explored other machines….NOW a year later, I know what machines I like and what machines I do not like and what works for me.
The machines I like
You can not go wrong with a treadmill, whether its walking or running.. its a great machine to start with because it is not complicated and is not difficult. Right now I do a fast walk on the treadmill at an incline and I love it!
The arc trainer
This is a machine I did not ever seen before until I started going to the gym. This is a total body workout and allows you to adjust from a stride to a climb. If you want to try something new and workout a lot of your body I recommend this. I also find that it is not a boring workout, for me anyway.
I love the stairs, it is a challenging workout and after I would complete it, I felt accomplished and was sweating a lot. However, although it helps your booty, it builds muscle in your legs, for me it did anyway. If you want to trim down your legs like myself I would not recommend the stairs.
The bike is a great workout, I use the bike because I am trying to trim down my legs, not build muscle. Some use it as a warm up, it depends what your goals are, but in my opinion you can’t go wrong with the bike. It is easy and allows you to increase the level of workout so that there is more resistance when riding.
These are my favorite machines at my gym, and the ones I use often. Lately, I have been doing 30 mins of cardio 4- 5 times a week. I know that everyone has different goals but these are the machines I use and what I have found helpful.
