Loving your skin: My fitness journey!

I began working out about a year ago but did not start to take it serious until about 2 months ago. What do I mean about serious? Changing the way I eat and for once asking for advice about what workouts I should be doing. I will tell you later on about my trainer/ friend who has given me such incredible guidance.

Why did I start working out? How has it changed my outlook on working out?
I started working because I went through an extremely difficult break up with my now ex, and wanted that revenge body.  That was my original reason but I quickly learned that I needed to want to workout and lose weight for myself, so that I could be happy. The revenge body part would just be a bonus.
I have learned that working out…. is my escape from reality. I experience a lot of anxiety and get stressed quickly but when I am able to workout I feel as if I could conquer the world.

So how am I doing? Since Thanksgiving, I have lost about 15 pounds.  I wish I could tell you a starting weight, but Thanksgiving was the first time I weighed myself in over year. 15 pounds does not seem like anything to me and I still have some work to do but I am happy where I am now and have gotten used to my new food selection.

What do I eat?
Nothing, haha just kidding… sorta. For breakfast, I sometimes eat eggs but lately, I have been eating fruit. Also, decaf coffee with almond milk.  For lunch, I eat a salad with organic romaine lettuce, cucumbers and a protein( I use organic chicken or ground turkey) with (3 tablespoons) of Good Sense Italian dressing. For dinner,  organic chicken or turkey with 2 green vegetables, I eat rice/ sweet potato once or twice a week.
I drink at least 2 liters of a water a day and I do not drink juice or milk.

This is my diet as of today but within the next 2 weeks I will be cutting out meat and finding different sources of protein. I will be posting about how that transition is going when I begin.

My workout
I will be writing a separate post about my workout plan, as well as introducing my trainer but I perform 30 minutes of intense cardio and 30 minutes of weights. I workout 5-6 days a week. I know this does not work for everyone but for right now it is working for me.

Why is loving your body important?
“If you look good, you’ll feel good”
I want to look my best so, I can feel good about myself. I do not like feeling insecure or unhappy when I look in the mirror. ALSO! I want to feel good, if you take care of your body, you will have more energy and be able to conquer the day. Loving your body should begin with your health, and appearance should come second. Take care of your body y’all, we only get one!

I want others to know that you can change your body, feel better and gain confidence. It is not always going to be easy, but you can do it!! I hope you continue on this journey with me!

This is not the best comparison, but just to give an idea. On the right is what I looked like a year ago. The picture on the left is what I looked like the other day. I will post better comparisons soon. 🖤
